The Dairy Industry IS The Veal Industry

Killing Dairy Calves So You Can Eat Milk, Cheese, and Ice Cream

Let me ask you some questions:

Would you separate a calf from its mother hours after it was born?

Would you literally rip it away from its mother,

drag it off by its leg and toss it into a wheelbarrow,

and then cart it off to an isolated hutch,

while the mama cow bellows for days in distress and anguish?

And then, would you keep keep that calf imprisoned in its hutch for 16 - 18 weeks,

until shooting a bolt into the calfs brain to stun it, followed by slitting it's throat to kill it?

All so that you can eat the soft, white meat called veal, which is, as you now know, nothing more than the flesh of a baby calf!

So, would you do all that in order consume dairy and veal?

Well, in the Dairy/Veal Industry, this is exactly what goes on every day.

Cows must give birth to a calf every year in order to produce milk. The calves are ripped away from their mothers, usually within 24 hours (and sometimes almost immediately after birth). The female calves are raised to be dairy cows. The male calves and any "surplus" females are raised for veal in tiny pens that don't allow much movement (so the meat will be soft).

Approximately 700,000 calves are slaughtered for veal in the U.S. annually, and about 21,000,000 dairy calves are slaughtered for veal or cheap beef every year globally. Most calves at veal farms are confined in small indoor pens and fed formula until the day they’re killed, at just 18 to 20 weeks old. About 15 percent of U.S. veal comes from “bob veal” calves. These are newborns sent directly to slaughter, some with their umbilical cords still attached.

Make no mistake, if you eat dairy—if you buy and consume dairy products, whether it is milk, cheese, or ice cream—even if you do not eat veal yourself, you are directly supporting the veal industry because the veal industry is a direct by-product of the dairy industry. That's not some kind of wild claim—it is a literal fact. Please read this article called, VEAL: WHAT ANIMAL DOES IT COME FROM AND WHY IS IT CRUEL?, and/or check our more articles and videos about this topic on my page about Dairy on this website?

Remember, as I mentioned in my blog post about the moral argument for veganism: If a practice causes serious harms that are morally unjustified, then that practice is morally wrong; therefore, the practice of raising and killing calves for veal is wrong. And therefore, there is no moral justification for eating veal; nor is there a moral justification for consuming dairy products, especially since human beings do not require veal or dairy products for health.

So, please, please stop consuming veal. Stop consuming dairy. Go Vegan. Do it for the calves. Do it for the animals. Always remember:
